Before ordering, compare the outer dimensions on the product page with the inner base of the tent: poles and corner pieces take up a few centimetres. A flexible tray adapts better to a tent of the same nominal size; a rigid one has to fit without bending the base tray.

Rigid or flexible grow tray

  • FlexiTray: flexible base and a 10 cm rim that follows the tent floor and holds even generous watering.
  • SK Tray and Garland: rigid trays, stable under heavy pots and easy to move and clean.
  • Flood and drain tables: for systems in which the nutrient solution rises and drains from the table.

How a flood and drain table works

A pump sends nutrient solution from a reservoir, usually under the table; the water rises a few centimetres, soaks pots or cubes from below for a few minutes and then drains back into the reservoir. A timer repeats the cycle several times a day. So you need a water tank, a pump and a timer, and pH is kept at 5.5–6.5. Other setups are among the irrigation systems.

Avoiding standing water

Empty the tray after every watering: standing water under the pots raises humidity in the tent, encourages mould and fungus gnats and starves the roots of oxygen if the pots stay in it. Battens or a grid under the pots keep their bases out of the water. For single square pots there are matching saucers as well.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a tray under pots in a grow tent?

Yes: the tent's base tray is not enough to protect the floor, and run-off has to be collected and thrown away. With more than four pots, one shared tray is more practical than many saucers.

What size tray for a 120x120 grow tent?

A FlexiTray 120x120, which adapts to the tent floor, or an SK Tray 120 if its outer dimensions fit between the poles. Always check the product page before ordering.

Rigid or flexible grow tray?

A flexible tray uses the whole tent floor; a rigid one is more stable under heavy pots and easier to move. Flood and drain systems need a dedicated table.
